Section 8 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 - Exemption from - Disclosure of Information - Personal information - Petitioner sought for copies of all memos, show-cause notices and censure/punishment awarded to third respondent from his employer and also details of his movable and immovable properties, investments, lending and borrowing from banks and other financial institutions - Further, he had also sought for details of gifts stated to have been accepted by third respondent, his family members and friends and relatives at marriage of his son -Information mostly sought for found a place in income tax returns of third respondent - HELD: Performance of an employee/officer in an organization is primarily a matter between the employee and the employer and normally those aspects are governed by service rules which fall under expression 'personal information', disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or public interest; on other hand, disclosure of same would cause unwarranted invasion of privacy of that individual - Since petitioner in the instant case had not made a bona fide public interest in seeking information, disclosure of such information would cause unwarranted invasion of privacy of individual under section 8(1)(j) [Paras 12 to 14]
